Important! New arrangements for church services during COVID-19 outbreak

Over the last two weeks, the nation has been responding to the threat that the COVID-19 virus poses. In order that we can keep our people safe, we have decided to cease holding Sunday Services at the church from Monday 23 March 2020 until further notice.

Sunday service content - reflections and prayers - will be sent out each week. If you would like to recieve a copy, please let us know.

We also encourage you to join with other church members in your area for house church on Sunday mornings. Remember this is how the early church began!

In a climate of instability and uncertainty they met in small groups in people’s homes to share life and faith, to pray for and encourage one another.  Like the early church we can take the resurrection hope of Christ with us into all that is unfolding – may it be our centrepoint, our cornerstone that grounds us – the Good News of a God who deeply cares and loves all of humanity and who brings forth new life even in the midst of despair. Remember this too will pass!

In the meantime, please take precautions and consider the health of the people around you:

  • Stay home if you feel unwell.

  • We would also suggest that anyone who has a health condition that makes them vulnerable to the effects of COVID-19 (lung infections, or heart or kidney problems) to consider avoiding small groups over the next few weeks.

In Paul’s letter to the church in Rome he writes: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Be of good heart, do not be afraid, we are in God’s hands and there are opportunities in the midst of these unsettling times to offer hope and to grow in our faith together.

If you need any assistance during this time, please let us know.

May the peace of Christ be with each one of you and all whom you love.

All are welcome at Albany Presbyterian Church. Whether you are a new believer, and want to find out what Christianity is about, or are a lifelong Christian, you will find at Albany Presbyterian Church a place of worship, fellowship, reflection and spiritual renewal.

We look forward to welcoming you.
